Training
At SWEDA we offer comprehensive training on Eating Disorders by experienced members of our team.
Training packages available run from 1 hour up to a full day and can be carried out at your place of work or at our training room in Shepton Mallet. All of our training courses can be adapted to meet specific needs of your staff/organisation. Please see examples of our training packages below.
1-hour session
Cost: £212
Who’s it for: Aimed at front of house staff, students etc.
Preferred number of participants: up to 30
Where: at your place of work or at SWEDA’s training room in Shepton Mallet
Course outcomes: Participants will have a greater awareness of the signs and symptoms of Eating Disorders and where to signpost for help.
2-hour session
Cost: £278
Who’s it for: Aimed at front of house staff, students etc.
Preferred number of participants: up to 30
Where: at your place of work or at SWEDA’s training room in Shepton Mallet
Course outcomes: Participants will have a greater awareness of the signs and symptoms of Eating Disorders and where to signpost for help.
½ day (4 hours) session
Cost: £410
Who’s it for: Aimed at nurses, tutors, etc.
Preferred number of participants: between 5 & 15
Where: at your place of work or at SWEDA’s training room in Shepton Mallet
Course content:
- To learn about the different types of eating disorders
- To consider the signs and symptoms of potential eating disorders
- To explore the recovery process and support options for people with an eating disorder
- To learn about the ways in which starvation affects the mind and body
- To consider the importance of a whole family approach
- To understand the support available for sufferers and their families/carers
- To help you feel more confident in your professional role to support someone with an eating disorder and their parents/carers.
Full day (6 hours) session
Cost: £542
Who’s it for: Aimed at GP’s, Counsellors, nurses, tutors etc.
Preferred number of participants: between 5 & 15
Where: at your place of work or at SWEDA’s training room in Shepton Mallet
Course content: as above plus:
- To learn what therapeutic interventions are available
- To learn about different treatment options
- To explore case studies and learn how you as a professional would deal with a particular situation
- To have time to reflect and share your own personal experiences in supporting your client group with eating disorders
