SWEDA Christmas Appeal 2017

 PLEASE Remember SWEDA this Christmas

We know that everyone who's had some connection with SWEDA values our work supporting people with eating disorders. If, amongst all the Christmas busy-ness, you are thinking of giving to a charity at this time of year, please consider putting us on your Christmas list.

We are a small, friendly and highly effective charity and thanks to our generous donors this year, we have provided services to over 60 clients, running 16 support groups and 321 counselling sessions. Anyone who knows these debilitating illnesses will understand how important this is.  Next year we are aiming to increase our counselling provision by 30%.

We also launched our new training package to schools and professionals and our outreach work raised awareness of eating disorders amongst more than 1500 students.

Any donation you can make helps us to continue our work. You can donate easily online at www.swedauk.org   Thank you!

Please have a look at our new video clips on YouTube; our 12 Days of Christmas are simple self-help strategies devised by SWEDA's counsellors. Do forward them on to anyone you know who might find them useful.

Our mission is to engage with people affected by eating disorders, including family, friends and carers, by offering hope and enabling access to support services to empower recovery. Here's what some of our clients say:

“I feel very grateful to be able to share my difficulties and concerns openly."

“Thank you so much for helping me to help myself.”

Thank you again and very best wishes to you this Christmas

PS.  We understand that this maybe a difficult time for you too.  Please do get in touch if you need our support.

“I had consistently been losing weight for more than 8 months and had become accustomed to eating very little. This triggered a return of my anorexia, after a 20-year period of recovery. SWEDA were able to offer me an appointment the very next day. When we met I was feeling very ill and frightened.I spoke to them about my fears, but then took the decision to go to my doctor on the way home. I was admitted to hospital within a few days.”
