The Couple's Story

Are you a couple who have lived or are living with the experience of an eating disorder?

My name is Zoé Dixon, I am a trainee counselling psychologist at City University in London, and am conducting my doctoral thesis exploring couples' experiences of living with an eating disorder or eating difficulties. The research has been passed by the university ethics committee and is self funded; my researcher is clinical psychologist Dr. Jay Watts ([email protected]).

I am therefore looking for couples who would be willing to talk to me confidentially about this experience. I hope to raise awareness of this experience, especially in the field of counselling psychology, to help inform and improve services that are provided for people in this situation. It seems that it is an area that has not been given as much research weight as others within the eating disorder field, and one which I feel is important.

Please take a look at for more information, and a way to contact me. Thank you.

“I saw a SWEDA support worker on campus at university. I had been struggling with binge eating disorder and compulsive exercise for about ten years. The SWEDA support worker was able to help me look at my relationship with food and my body in a different way. I have learned to be kinder to myself and they taught me techniques which helped me to slow down my thinking. Now I can go out and have fun without worrying all the time.”
