Privacy on our website

All of Somerset & Wessex Eating Disorders Association's services are completely confidential (see our Confidentiality Policy for more information) and this, of course, includes our website. We do not require any personal information from you in order for you to use our site. SWEDA does not pass on any information whatsoever to third parties but please be aware that the internet and consequently the SWEDA site is a public place so do not place any personal or contact information from which you could be identified on the site (e.g. in the forums,r Guestbook or mailing lists)!

SWEDA will treat any email you send us in complete confidence as if it were a written letter or telephone call. However it is important to realise that email is not a secure medium and may be read or intercepted in transit; PGP encryption is available to alleviate this problem.

Bear in mind too that if you include your email address in a message in our guestbook or forums it will become generally available to all (not just other users of our site) and that some advertising/bulk mailing companies routinely scour the internet for email addresses to target. You may feel safer setting up a web based email account (which can be cancelled at a later date) such as Hotmail or use an email redirecting service such as Bigfoot. In any event, you are not required to leave an email address with any message you leave and feel free to use a nickname or pseudonym if you prefer (this is very common on most websites anyway). Somerset & Wessex Eating Disorders Association will not pass any information it receives to 3rd parties.

Are website is hosted by SiteHQ and we use the facilities that they provide for our forums and any information and as such the privacy of information whilst using these aspects of the site are dependant on SiteHQ's own Privacy Statement.
