The NICE guideline stresses the need for immediate referral, condemns use of physical measurements as the only indicator of severity, and outlines that individuals should not be travelling long distances for treatment. It states that inpatient care plans should be developed with the patient and their carers, and thought should be given to the aim of their admission and transition back to the community.
