Who is this project for?

If you

  • have an eating disorder
  • are aged 18 - 25
  • are in education or training
  • live or study in the South West
  • are motivated and want help

Then this could be for you.

How do I get to use 18 - 25's?

You can

What if I am not yet 18

  • If you are preparing to study and would like support before you move ton to make this transition easier then please do contact us.

What if I am over 25

  • If you are in education or training or about to be then please do contact us.

What can I expect from 18 - 25's

When you request information you will be asked for your contact details and about the best way to contact you.

Then you will be offered a meeting to talk about what you would like and what you need to help you manage being at university or college.

We will work together to find the best ways of supporting you

What are the possibilities?

  • Supported self help
  • Supportive and understanding groups
  • SWEDA pen pals
  • Email time
  • Email discussion group
  • Telephone helpline
  • One to one supporter
  • Adventures
  • Trying out new things
  • Fun and therapeutic residentials

Could it be useful for me?

Sometimes you can get busy in your studying and do not notice how things are outside of this.

You may find that people are nagging you to eat and to get out and have a break when all you want to do is get your work done.

It may be that you feel things will be OK when you move away and get to university or college and live on your own. However people seem to find that unless they get the support and understanding they need to make changes things will not change.

You may wonder how things will be for your family when you leave home. If this is the case for you then your family can contact us to find out about family support.

Who will know I am using this project?

18-25's works in accordance with S.W.E.D.A.'s confidentiality policy

If you want to talk about this before going any further with the project please contact Nicky.

If Only

If only I had had help when I had been leaving home and going to university.
If only I had been able to realise that things were not ok
If only someone had been there to help me see it was not all about food and weight
If only I had been able to ask for help
Would I have been ill for so long?
Would I have been able to enjoy university?
Would I have been able to concentrate more?
Would I have had friends and a social life?
Would I have been able to seek help?
I wonder how things would have been!
Could there have been someone there for me?
